New Hard-Shell Purple Luggage!

After five, count ’em, five trips in the past two months so far to find new purple things for our favorite customers (that’s you!), we have travel on our minds.

We just got some new hardshell purple luggage pieces in.  They’re beautiful and we thought we’d share.  Having good quality suitcases makes trips go better.  Having quality PURPLE suitcases is more fun.

If you or someone you know likes to travel or has some trip planned, here’s our power luggage we’d recommend most.  This costs more to make so the price tag is higher than our other travel pieces that we also like a lot.  If it’s within your budget, though, you’ll love owning them.

So, leave a comment and answer this:  Where do YOU want to travel next?

Seattle – Packing Fill Materials Please!

Where can you recycle packing peanuts in Seattle?   Here please!

We love being green (and purple!) and use recycled packing material whenever we can. It is so wasteful to throw it away!

We (thankfully) have had a ton of orders lately and are running REALLY low on packing fill.  If you happen to be in Seattle or have a friend who is, we would love any extra packing fill that’s being thrown away!

We’re hoping for the following, please:

—  Bubble wrap (our favorite)

—  Packing peanuts (our second favorite)

—  Air pillow packs

—  Clean packing paper or paper grocery bags.

We don’t usually take boxes in unless they’re completely unused and unmarked (and we’re pretty set on boxes now).

If any of our fans or their friends have these materials in Seattle and want to find them a good home, we would love to take them in!

Apple Solves iPhone 5 Purple Flare Issue

Cupertino, CA –  On the heels of outcry about purple lens flares appearing in pictures with strong light sources, Apple will soon be releasing a solution according to one inside report.

Apple’s official response suggests users aiming the camera away from bright light sources or shield the camera, which many photographers would also recommend for any camera.  A different kind of consumer reaction, however, has suggested Apple’s response might be all wrong.

Purple? No Problem!

While many media outlets have distorted the story and presented this purple tinting as a drawback or defect, purple fans around the world have been celebrating.  The only complaint?  Not enough of the photo is tinted purple.

According to an unnamed supplier source we might be making up, Apple has corrected this issue and will be releasing a revised iPhone to correct the problem.  The new version, according to the source, will be dubbed the iPhone5p.  While the camera resolution and features will remain the same as the iPhone5, the new camera corrects the issue where the purple tint was limited to areas of strong light source.  The iPhone5p will reportedly address this by tinting the entire photo purple as it should.

The Purple Store, a Seattle-based retailer selling only purple items, is currently in negotiations* to become the sole distributor of the new iPhone5p.

* Where ‘”negotiations” means they’ve looked up Apple’s phone number.

Stage Hypnotist

Hypnotism Spiral -purple

You are getting sleepy. You also like purple things. A lot. You want purple things now….

One of our customers visited The Purple Store’s Seattle location and mentioned that he performs hypnotism on stage.

Hearing about this after he left, Heidi, one of our staff members,  said this:  “He’s a stage hypnotist? Oh, man, I saw one of those a while back.  I wanted to be picked so badly.

Or maybe I was picked.  Huh, I can’t remember.”

A Purple Summer Treat

Hello Purple People –

With summer in swing here in Seattle, the warm-weather feasts have begun in earnest. We were inspired to do a little culinary reconnaissance for appropriate treats (and of course in the appropriate color theme). While the following ice cream recipe may not look purple, it will certainly taste purple! We recommend adding a little red and blue food coloring to the ingredients to get the fantastic purple color we all love.

Honey Lavender Ice Cream

Honey Lavender Ice Cream from Epicurious2 cups heavy cream

1 cup half-and-half

2/3 cup mild honey

2 tablespoons dried edible lavender flowers*

2 large eggs

1/8 teaspoon salt

Special equipment: a candy or instant-read thermometer; an ice cream maker

Bring cream, half-and-half, honey, and lavender just to a boil in a 2-quart heavy saucepan over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, then remove pan from heat. Let steep, covered, 30 minutes.

Pour cream mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl and discard lavender. Return mixture to cleaned saucepan and heat over moderate heat until hot.

Whisk together eggs and salt in a large bowl, then add 1 cup hot cream mixture in a slow stream, whisking. Pour into remaining hot cream mixture in saucepan and cook over moderately low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until thick enough to coat back of spoon and registers 170 to 175°F on thermometer, about 5 minutes (do not let boil).

Pour custard through sieve into cleaned bowl and cool completely, stirring occasionally. Chill, covered, until cold, at least 3 hours.

Freeze custard in ice cream maker. Transfer ice cream to an airtight container and put in freezer to harden.
